Our History
1933
Foundation
NMLRA was founded to preserve the heritage of muzzleloading firearms and American marksmanship traditions.
1934
First National Championship
The inaugural national championship brought together shooters from across the country.
1942
Walter Cline Range Established
Our permanent home in Friendship, Indiana, became the premier destination for muzzleloading enthusiasts.

The National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association exists to promote, support, nurture, and preserve our Nation’s rich historical heritage in the sport of muzzleloading through recreational, educational, historical, and cultural venues such as match competition, hunting, gun making and safety, historical re-enactments, exhibits, museums, libraries, and other related programs.
