President’s Message

I hope you all read Mike Yazel's message from the Board, from the viewpoint of the Treasurer. The very first act I took as President was to fire the previous ac-counting firm, who, in my opinion, was not performing to the standards that I thought the NMLRA deserved. I hired Craig Turpen of Turpen & Deckard, CPAs, and he has been a blessing. First, he had worked in the past with our antique software and there was no need for a learning curve there. Secondly, he and Kim Scobee, have spent hours simplifying our entire system and getting us modern software. Kim works well with Craig. She says he speaks normal English and his communication skills, while dealing with a complicated subject, are still conveyed at a level that we can all understand and I know Yazel has spent hours with him as well and he appreciates his ability to get the points across.

Secondly, for those of you nationally who attend your territorial shoots and read your magazine, just know that as the future progresses your on-line magazine is going to be much larger and richer in content. While very similar to the print version, it will be different, bigger and full of more content. It would be impossible for the print and mail magazine to keep up with the electronic version.

The Alternative Range use rules have been adopted and center-fire range days will be March 7, April 11 and May 2 between the hours of 8 AM to 4 PM.

Our Pittman Robertson Committee has met with the Indiana DNR and are working with all due energy and haste to accomplish accessing the return of the tax dollars we sports-men voluntarily pay into that program.

And just to mention some of the smaller things, all the block restrooms on the range have been painted, getting rid of that schoolhouse green and you will also notice a lot of range improvements, new metal on the pistol shack, just to name a few, and don't forget to check out our new sign on top of the Sheep Sheds as you arrive in June.

As George Rogers Clark used to sign off,

Your Humble and Obedient Servant

Brent Steele, President
